Land Forces Day Bahna 2026 will once again be one of the most important public events of the Army of the Czech Republic. Visitors can look forward to a programme that will begin in the morning with a promenade concert by the Military Band and an official opening ceremony, including the raising of the national flag. The Czech Air Force will also appear at the beginning of the programme. Flyovers by AH and UH helicopters as well as JAS-39 Gripen aircraft are planned.
The official opening will include a parachute jump by paratroopers of the 43rd Airborne Regiment carrying the flags of the Czech Republic, NATO, the Land Forces, the 43rd Airborne Regiment and the Land Forces Foundation. The paratroopers will be accompanied by a W-3A Sokol helicopter, which will also be presented later in the day during a separate aerial display.
From Historical Equipment to the Leopard 2A4
Bahna has long been built on the connection between military history and the current capabilities of the armed forces. This year, the programme will therefore again include historical military equipment, a themed parade and a demonstration titled Tank Battle – Hunt for the Beast, 1945, accompanied by historical aircraft of the Land Forces Foundation.
Alongside historical vehicles and aircraft, visitors will also see current equipment of the Army of the Czech Republic. The Army parade will include, for example, the KAJMAN vehicle of the 43rd Airborne Regiment, the Pandur II wheeled infantry fighting vehicle, the Iveco light armoured vehicle, the TITUS armoured vehicle, the BVP-2 infantry fighting vehicle, a 152 mm self-propelled gun-howitzer and the Leopard 2A4 tank.
The Leopard will be one of the most prominent symbols of the current modernisation of the armed forces. It will appear not only in the parade, but also during the tracked vehicle driving performance demonstration together with the BVP-2. Visitors will therefore see equipment that demonstrates the direction in which the capabilities of the heavy units of the Land Forces are developing.
Dynamic Demonstrations: Infantry, Paratroopers, Artillery, CBRN Specialists and Logistics
The main part of the programme will be devoted to dynamic demonstrations. One of them will be a combined demonstration by units of the 4th Rapid Deployment Brigade and the 7th Mechanised Brigade. Soldiers will enter the demonstration area with Pandur II wheeled infantry fighting vehicles, BVP-2 infantry fighting vehicles and Land Rover vehicles. The demonstration will present cooperation between units in an environment where speed, coordination and the ability to respond precisely to a changing situation are decisive.
Another highly attractive part of the programme will be a demonstration by the 43rd Airborne Regiment, the 31st CBRN Defence Regiment and the 6th Medical Battalion. The scenario includes an assault on a facility by a parachute platoon, sample collection and evacuation of the wounded. Visitors will see not only the combat activity of paratroopers, but also the involvement of CBRN specialists and military medical personnel. Demonstrations of this kind clearly show that a modern military operation is not the task of a single unit, but the result of cooperation between several areas of expertise.
Artillery soldiers from the 13th Artillery Regiment will present a fire platoon in a firing position. The programme includes the use of 152 mm self-propelled gun-howitzers and the TITUS vehicle. The artillery demonstration will give visitors an insight into one of the key capabilities of the Land Forces: the ability to provide fire support to units in combat.
Support and sustainment capabilities will also be represented. Logistics personnel from the 14th Logistic Support Regiment, together with the 31st CBRN Defence Regiment, will demonstrate the recovery of wheeled vehicles. The programme lists vehicles such as Pandur, MAMUT, AV-15, Tatra 810, Hilux and other equipment. Demonstrations like this are a reminder that the ability to return equipment to operation in the field is just as important as combat deployment itself.
The programme will also include a wheeled vehicle driving performance demonstration, featuring equipment from the 4th Rapid Deployment Brigade, the 13th Artillery Regiment, the 43rd Airborne Regiment and the 31st CBRN Defence Regiment. Visitors will see, for example, Pandur, Iveco, TITUS and KAJMAN vehicles. A separate part of the programme will then focus on tracked vehicle driving performance, featuring the BVP-2 and Leopard 2A4.
The day will not consist solely of army demonstrations. The programme will also include a mounted police demonstration by the Police of the Czech Republic, a military working dog demonstration by the Prison Service of the Czech Republic and a Military Police demonstration focused on the apprehension of a group of perpetrators of particularly serious crime in an area affected by a destabilised security situation.
Bahna 2026 will therefore offer a broad view of what forms today’s security environment. Visitors will see modern equipment, historical vehicles and aircraft, air assets, and the work of infantry, paratroopers, artillery soldiers, CBRN specialists, medical personnel, logisticians and members of other security forces. The programme will culminate in a final parade of Army of the Czech Republic equipment and thanks to the crews who took part in the demonstrations.
Bahna is not merely a display of military equipment. It is a place where the public can see the capabilities, training, cooperation and professionalism of soldiers up close. This year’s edition will once again show that the Land Forces are built on people, equipment, experience and the ability to prepare for tasks that correspond to the current security environment.
