About the Czech Land Forces

Czech Armed Forces

Ready to defend, prepared to support

The Czech Land Forces are the principal combat component of the Czech Armed Forces. They defend the Czech Republic, maintain readiness for demanding operations, fulfil allied commitments and support civil authorities when the country needs military assistance.

Our mission

Defend the Czech Republic

Protect the country’s territory, sovereignty, population and critical assets.

Contribute to collective defence

Provide capable forces for NATO commitments, multinational formations and operations with allies.

Build combat readiness

Train personnel, develop capabilities and prepare units to operate in complex and high-intensity environments.

Support citizens at home

Assist the Integrated Rescue System and other authorities during emergencies, disasters and other serious threats.

How we operate

The Land Forces combine manoeuvre units with artillery, engineering, logistics, CBRN defence, reconnaissance and electronic warfare capabilities. This structure allows them to form mission-tailored task forces for national defence and for operations within allied formations.

Training with NATO partners, common procedures and the ability to exchange information are essential to interoperability. Czech units regularly prepare to operate alongside allied forces under a shared command.
